Jack (2014)

Jack (2014) is a sad but unfortunately very realistic story about what happens when your parents are still children themselves. 10-year-old Jack is the predominate caretaker for his 6-year-old half brother Manuel, as neither father is around and their mother (played by Luise Heyer) is constantly working or partying. One day, Manuel has a bit of an accident while Jack is watching him, and the authorities step in. Manuel is left in his mother's care while Jack is taken to a children's home where he's horribly (and violently) bullied by another little boy. He ultimately escapes and goes back to Berlin to find Manuel and track down their mother, who is off on an even longer stint than normal. While bold and inspiring on the part of the little boys, the story remains pretty bleak, though very powerful—particularly when we get to see all three of Luise's Bs!
