In den Tag hinein (2001)

A multiple award winner at film festivals across Europe, Maria Speth’s arthouse drama In den Tag hinein (2001) describes the romantic fluctuations of a drifting Berliner. Sabine Timoteo stars as Lynn, a spontaneously creative twenty-two-year-old whose zest for life is belied, somewhat, by her lack of a concrete life plan. Immersed in a romantic relationship with a world-class swimmer (Florian Müller-Mohrungen), Lynn discovers that she lacks the goal-oriented focus of her mate. Unhappy in love, she finds herself drifting into the arms of a Japanese student (Hiroki Mano) with whom she shares a certain physical chemistry, if not a common tongue. Of course, words aren’t necessary where Timoteo’s concerned––as she drops her top for a refreshing skinny-dip, you’ll hardly be able to find them anyway.
