Iben Hjejle has a last name that cannot be pronounced without an extra vocal cord. But they manage to sing its praises in her native Denmark, where she's a big name. Born on March 22, 1971, in Copenhagen, Iben got her start in works such as Portland (1996), Mors Dag (1996), Jacobs liste (1997), Den hemmelige tunnel (1997), and Morten Korch - Ved stillebækken (1999). Sadly, she hasn't really made a big splash in the United States...yet. Iben has been acting since 1996 and plays the hooker-cum-housewife in the third official Dogma film Mifune (1999). But it was her role in High Fidelity (2000) that piqued interest here at Skin Central. In it, she plays John Cusack's "number one breakup, Laura." There is a great scene that features Iben and Tim Robbins doing the nasty dance, showing us a little of Iben's skin, but not enough — is there ever enough? Hunt out the short foreign film Nøgen (1991), where Iben sheds her clothing in a dimly lit scene. If you look closely, you see that she really isn't all blonde, but she is all woman! In The Boss of It All (2006), Iben shows off her bra-clad cleavage when her sweater comes undone, but sadly, she doesn't get nude. Some of her more recent credits include Dicte: Crime Reporter (2013), The Rain (2018), Monty and the Street Party (2019), Embraces & the Touch of Skin (2019), and A Beautiful Curse (2021).
