Review

A valley girl and her middle-aged mom regret ever leaving sun-kissed California in the occult horror film I’ve Been Waiting for You (1998). Sarah (Sarah Chalke) and mom Rosemary (Markie Post) abandon the left coast in favor of a cozy New England hamlet with a hidden history of witchcraft. Because Sarah happens to share a name with a local witch who was burned alive, a clique of high-school students sets their sights on tormenting the poor girl. Sarah gets the last laugh, however, when, with the help of strange paranormal powers, she presages the coming of a knife-wielding psychopath. The would-be twenty-first-century witch never really lets her guard down, but she does cast a spell in one bathing-suit-clad scene.
