In How to Make an American Quilt (1995) Winona Ryder plays a bride-to-be who hears tales of romance and sorrow from her elders as they construct a quilt. Well, guess that’s where the title came from. Not super-creative or anything, but practical and descriptive. It’s chock full of old wives’ tales and urban legends, which also stars Ellen Burstyn and Joanna Going, who is the sole skin in the film, showing her boobs and butt in a flashback scene. Now that’s how you knit a quilt. We just wish Winona and Ellen joined in on the nudity. In a film about an quilt no body should be wearing a stitch.
