Much to the chagrin of many of us, Netflix has cut down on the amount of nudity in their Original series lately. Some shows like Orange is the New Black began to wane after a skin-filled first season, while other shows like House of Cards just made a clean break from nudity altogether. There's a new series on the horizon, however, with a lot of promise for some great nudity, particularly considering its title, and that's the new Japanese series The Naked Director!

Based on the true story of Japanese director ToruMuranishi, the show chronicles his pioneering work in the field of Japanese pornography in the 1980s. Think of it asBoogie Nights but set in Japan and with the rise of the industrytaking place in the 80s, rather than its downfall. The series comes to us fromMasaharu Take (100 Yen Love), who had the following to say in an interview with Asia One...

"When Netflix approached me about telling the story of Toru Muranishi, his entourage, and the 1980's, I was drawn to this provocative, daring project. I was reminded of some of the most stimulating, embarrassing, enjoyable, and misguided days of my life," said the director.

"Together with some of the foremost cast and crew in Japan today we hope to create an ode to the provocative trailblazers of this industry and tell the shocking tale of their unlikely rise to fame. It's a rousing story we're proud to tell, all set amongst a meticulous portrait of one of the most frenzied eras in the country's history."

Fingers crossed for lots and lots of nudity in this one, which is set to debut on Netflix on August 8, the same day as season three of GLOW. Hopefully they're competing for the title of most nude Netflix show released on that day!
