In the prosperous Buenrostro family, the women wear the pants, the antics are as manic as a Mexican jumping bean, and the money comes from illegal schemes. That's the conceit of the black comedy Hijas de su madre: Las Buenrostro (2005), an estrogen-sational take on wacky family dynamics. The Buenrostros all live in a Mexico City apartment complex (and under the heel of the wild Buenrostro women), juggling love triangles and a secret snuff business with lots of sass (and some very, very nice ass . . . check out Marina de Tavira's tasty Ta-rear-a!). It's a good thing for the Buenrostro bunch that the neighbors are on their side, because otherwise the policia would be stopping by every night to tan their hides. Evangelina Elizondo plays the head black widow and Pilar Ixquic Mata, Lumi Cavazos, and Marta Zamora bring up the rear.
