Havana

Havana (1990)

Review

It's the film that Jerry Seinfeld famously paid $35 to see on season four of Seinfeld, and now the legend is available for your enjoyment as well, and you won't have to pay those outrageous prices either! Set amid the passion and romance of Cuba’s revolutionary heyday, Havana (1990) is the story of Jack, a professional gambler, who goes to Cuba to organize the poker game to end all poker games. Robert Redford plays the ruggedly handsome Jack whose sex symbol days are clearly on the decline, but every woman still wants to be on him like the velcro on his orthopedic shoes! On his way to Havana—cue a Pee-Wee's Playhouse-esque celebration for saying the title again—Jack meets and falls in love with the beautiful Roberta (Lena Olin), not knowing that she is married to one of Cuba’s leading revolutionaries. When the husband dies in a street demonstration, Roberta is arrested as an accomplice and it is up to Jack to win her freedom... or die trying! The film's expansive 144 minute running time doesn't dole out as much skin as you might be hoping for, but Lise Cutter gives us a short but tempting taste of her teacups, while Karen Russell flashes some bush while doing a striptease dressed as a cop! If that's not getting you growing, how about we throw in some brief boobage from Lena Olin in the tub? Strike a match because you'll be rolling a fat cuban of your own!
