Set during the mafia-filled, turbulent times of late 50s Cuba, Havana 57 (2012) is a thrilling drama following young police officer Rubén Vélez (Juan Riedinger) as he tries to make sense of the lawlessness and corruption that has taken over the city and police force he loves. Partnered with a dirty cop that shockingly murders a student activist, the idealistic man is faced with two choices: play the game or face the consequences. When a Tropicana dancer is found dead, Rubén is assigned to the investigation. As the determined law enforcer follows the clues, he gets involved with Juliana (Elizabetta Fantone), a sexy dancer and mob girlfriend. Juliana begins to feed Rubén’s lustful needs, along with some inside information regarding the mob. Even though she’s hot and seems sincere, Rubén might just be in over his head.
