Gunpowder (2017)

You've likely already heard of the Gunpowder Plot - now celebrated every November 5th with fireworks, it was an early 17th-century ruse to blow up the House of Lords and stop the violent persecution of Catholics. Gunpowder is out to set the record straight about the supposed Guy Fawkes Day, using Kit Harington, a real-life descendant of mastermind Robert Catesby, to illustrate who really devised the whole plan. Early in the mini-series, a secret mass is uncovered by King James' crew, and both a middle-aged woman and young priest are brutally executed. What follows the strip down of Sian Webber is one of the most brutal punishments on TV, but you'll at least be able to enjoy the full nudity beforehand!
