Goodnight, Beantown

Despite running a mere fourteen episodes between 1983 and 1984, Goodnight, Beantown is still remembered rather fondly by sitcom aficionados. Maybe that’s because of the witty banter or the stocked supporting cast, but if you ask Mr. Skin, it’s because of the marvelous Mariette Hartley. Paired alongside Bill Bixby, Mary was clearly having a great time as a bickering and romantically entangled newscaster. Toss in the tantalizingly teenaged Tracey Gold as Mariette’s precocious daughter and you’re looking at an ill-fated series that was quick with the laughs and easy on the eyes. Goodnight indeed!
