Welcome to a new series here at Mr. Skin where we take a look at Hollywood's Golden Age...its NUDE Golden Age. We are considering The Golden Age of Nudity in film to be the 1980s, specifically the early 80s. After our weekly deep dive, you will be inclined to agree. This week we are going to take a look at Screwballs and its iconic nude scenes.
The screwball comedy got the sex comedy treatment with this 1983 sex comedy that came out of Canada and was directly inspired by the film Porky's. As a result, it has always been compared to Porky's. I think that that is a fair assessment of this film, but I still think that the film's nudity is worth looking into as we focus on these few years of movie nudity. Let's look into it:
The film is set in the mid-60s where five teen boys at Taft and Adams High School spend their days trying to see naked babes. They have open particular babe as the object of their desire and her name is Purity Bush. Seriously. She is the most beautiful girl in school. She is played by the beautiful blond Linda Speciale who deserves the monicker. She is the prettiest girl in the movie!
The boys are set up in a bit of sting operation by Purity who is, well, trying to maintain her purity. She caught on to the boys' leering glances and decided to have some fun with them and stop them once and for all. The boys are sent to the principal's office and given detention. Now they have a new mission: revenge.
The boys plot their revenge on poor little Purity Bush, but not without seeing Purity's pair. There is nothing impure about these Canadian cans. Speciale is very special.
She's far from the only nude girl in the movie. Linda Shayne bares her boobage during a car sex scene that presses her mams against the glass.
Jennifer Inch will make you grow a few inches when she exposes her chest for a horny guy posing as a doctor. It's a mean trick, but it pleases the wick to see her perky pair. It looks like her tits are in tit top shape!
Finally, real life exotic dancer Raven De La Croix plays a stripper whose striptease is amazing to watch. Her olive toned skin glistened under the stage lights as she dances topless to showcase her massive mams. Those bouncing bazongas would make men in the audience give her a standing ovation - just not on their feet, if you know what I mean.
The film has never been critically received well. Audiences and critics could not get past its obvious influence and how similar the two movies felt. At the time, Variety called it, "a poor man's Porky's... full of youthful exuberance and proves utterly painless to watch, but it is so close in premise and tone to its model that negative comparisons can't help but be drawn."
No matter what you think of the movie, one thing is clear: Screwballs won't give you blueballs.
