Although all of the characters in the English romantic drama Friends (1971) are too refined to put it in such crass terms, this heart-tugging tale of an abandoned fifteen-year-old English lad and the orphaned French chick who makes him a man is a paean to the power of pussy. Give a lonely and alienated pimple face a regular source of top-shelf, fresh-to-market muff, and he becomes a superman, independent, all-powerful, captain of his own destiny. Keep the canoodle coming, and he doesn’t need any friends.
