Frankenstein 90 (1984)

The French can turn any abomination into the basis for a light, whimsical romantic comedy, even the travails of a medically manufactured reanimated monster. The chuckles aroused by the Alain Jessua-directed Frankenstein 90 (1984) are wispy and taper off into erotic longing. A doddering professor, a descendant of the original Dr. Frankenstein, assembles a composite companion out of spare people parts in his secret laboratory. As fate and cupid would have it, the inhuman pet develops a dangerous crush on the professor’s girlfriend. There’s only one solution--sew together an ideal mate for the lovelorn freak. When the female miscreation hits the scene, Frankenstein 90’s real troubles begin.
