En la ciudad sin límites (2002)

When the patriarch of a wealthy Spanish family contracts cancer, his wife and children convene to see him through the illness. So begins the somber drama En la ciudad sin límites (2002), in which Leonardo Sbaraglia stars as the prodigal son who returns to his father’s deathbed. As the ailing Max (Fernando Fernán Gómez) sees his health worsen, his seemingly delusional rantings and ravings alert Victor (Sbaraglia) that something is terribly wrong. The young man resolves to discover whether his father’s words are the product of lunacy or a credible threat. Director Antonio Hernández deals with serious subject matter but keeps the atmosphere from becoming dour by enlisting co-stars Leticia Brédice and Mónica Estarreado to liven up the proceedings with supple female flesh.
