Although it was filmed thirty years prior and a country away, Rafael Baledón’s Mexican drama El Hombre del puente (1976) is somewhat reminiscent of The Terminal (2004). Gregorio Casal stars as “a man without a country”--an expatriate who encounters a legal snafu that relegates him to living on a bridge, because neither of the nations it spans will allow him to enter. It’s a rotten situation to be sure--particularly because he spends so much of his time haunted by the memory of an erotic encounter with sexy Diana Bracho. The poor stud’s a mere passport stamp away from steaming it up with the delectable Diana.
