Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda are far-out hippies who set out to find America on their choppers—and sell a lot of cocaine while they do—in the classic Easy Rider (1969). Perhaps the most iconic flick of the 1960's, this low-budget sleeper came from nowhere to become a huge box-office hit, and single-handedly spawned the biker genre. Shot mostly with a cast of stoned hippies behind the camera as well as in front of it, Hopper directed the script he, Fonda and beatnik legend Terry Southern penned about Wyatt (Peter Fonda) the stars and stripes adorned biker smuggling drugs alongside his buddy Billy (Dennis Hopper). Once they've made their cash, they cruise the country, running into a free love practicing hippy commune, teaching a square lawyer (Jack Nicholson) the benefits of smoking grass, fighting off murderous locals who hate their hippy ways and tripping on copious amounts of acid. Don't expect a happy ending to this buddy flick, but there's plenty to give yourself a happy ending to. Its heavy existential ending may bum your high, but scenes like Sabrina Scharf and Luana Anders skinny-dipping with Hopper in the commune will keep your freak flag flying! We wish getting a girl to ride you was as easy as it was back in those days! Karen Black was in a wild, drug induced Mardi Gras sequence, but kept her clothes on. No such issues with Tony Basil, who had us super sticky years before Mickey, showing all three B's as she runs around the Big Easy totally nude. With skin scenes like that, Easy Rider will get your motor running!
