What happens when you suck all the satire out of a satire? You get limp retreads and lame ripoffs like this one, the wholly unnecessary TV adaptation to Paul Mazurksy’s fantastic tweak of social class standings. The casting was the first problem, as we’ve got Hector Elizondo in the Richard Dreyfus role, Tim Thomerson as Nick Nolte’s character, and Anita Morris in the Bette Midler bit. All fine actors, but not exactly known for their comic timing. Alas, Fox pulled the plug right quick.
