The Hawksian Woman became a term to describe women who appeared in movies directed by legendary American director Howard Hawks. I love women and I love Howard Hawks films, so I wanted to put a spotlight on his filmography and the gorgeous girls who made it so special.
Hawks is responsible for so many great films. He directed westerns such as Rio Bravo and El Dorado. He was responsible for the greatest comedies in old cinema such as His Girl Friday, Bringing Up Baby, and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. He gave us sweeping romances like The Big Sleep, gangster movies like Scarface, and even sci-fi in the form of The Thing from Another World. That's an impressive resume, but I'm most impressed with the way he was able to showcase strong, ball-breaking, sexy women in all of them!
