Chilean director Pablo Larraín was at the helm of two of the best films of 2016, Jackie and Neruda, and his long awaited follow-up to those films has finally arrived. Ema screened last week at the Toronto International Film Festival and features a breakout performance from the gorgeous Mariana Di Girolamo! As you can see from the above trailer, this looks to be a suspenseful ride set in the world of a dancer, potentially mining the same vein as another Natalie Portman flick, Black Swan.
While Aronofsky's flick definitely skimped out on the skin, Larraín doesn't disappoint when it comes to doling out nudity in this tale of a modern dancer who might be losing her mind. Di Girolamo teases us a bunch in the film's first half, but she absolutely explodes with sexual energy in the film's more unconventional second act.
An hour into this flick, Mariana Di Girolamo shares a sapphic smooch with Paola Giannini, takes off her top, and participates in an orgy at a party! Five minutes later, we see Mariana's breasts again as she gets screwed by a guy, and at the hour and twenty four minute mark, more breasts from Mariana, Paola, and several other girls seen earlier in the flick!
Ema currently does not have a North American release date scheduled, though it's set to screen again this week in Milan and next month at the London International Film Festival.
