Would It Be Deadwood Without Boobs?
Rumors of aDeadwood movie have been swirling around for years now. Ever since the show was canceled back in 2006, fans of the show have wished for the return of cowboy hats, salloon boobs, and Al Swearengen saying all of the F-words just one more time. It seems as though HBO has heard our wishes and the Deadwood movie is finally moving forward.
According to Casey Bloys (an executive at HBO) the movies= is in pre-production with the goal having the film air in the fall of 2018.
“If we can do for the right budget it make sense. We’re taking to directors and we’re getting the cast together, which is not an easy task. Then we’re inclined to do it if we can get over those hurdles,"
While I’m sure the Deadwood film will include plenty of violence, what about the nudity? The show had some nice moments of skin, but will the movie make sure to toss in that element? Toss in the fact they haven’t really announced who will return for the film. Other than Ian McShane (if they don’t get Ian McShane to play Al Swearengen, then don’t do the movie; seriously don’t do it), it’s hard to picture Deadwood without Molly Parker, Robin Weigert, and Sarah Paulsonnudity.
I guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes open and our ears to the ground for leaks about casting and plot. Let’s all cross our fingers they’ll use all the elements that made the TV show great in the movie.
