Christine Colby has your dream job. As the managing editor of Penthouse magazine, she spends her days overseeing the production of one of the world's most recognizable men's magazines...and yes, that includes checking out nude pics of those SKINfamous Penthouse Pets. Christine is just one of a surprisingly large-- and usually anonymous-- group of women working behind the scenes at men's magazines to bring you the naked entertainment you know and love.

Christine spoke to us from Penthouse HQ in New York City, where she reminisced about Penthouse's most under-appreciated celebrity centerfold, the biggest misconceptions people have about her job, and her dream celebrity pictorial (here's a hint):

SKIN CENTRAL: How long have you been working for Penthouse? What do you do there?

CHRISTINE COLBY: I’ve been the managing editor for four years. Without sounding too much like I’m reading off my resume, I write, edit, copy edit, manage a stable of freelance writers and editors, and work with the editorial and production departments to do what I can to make sure the magazine gets printed on time.

SC: I'm sure many men have an idea of what it's like working at Penthouse that more or less resembles an episode of theRed Shoe Diaries. Care to burst their bubble?

CC: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been asked, seemingly seriously, if we all have Penthouse Pets as assistants or if we work in lingerie or naked. I hate to disappoint everyone, but it’s just an office and we do have to get a magazine out. How would we possibly work with all of those distractions? Although Pets do come by the office sometimes, and I did get to see Ryan Keely’s boobs once.

SC: Are there any celebs people might be surprised to learn were in Penthouse?

CC: There are a few celebrities that everyone knows have been nude in the magazineMadonna, Vanessa Williams, Dita Von Teese, and of course Traci Lords. The one you don’t hear about as much these days, colby skinterview 4though, is the superhot pictorial Lauren Hutton did in 1986. So, it’s been a whileI think we’re ready for a new surprising celeb. Although, is it really surprising when a celebrity is naked these days? Who doesn’t already have a sex tape? Tina Fey? Betty White?

SC: A Tina Fey pictorial would be pretty hot. So, who writes those "letters to Penthouse," anyway?

CC: I could never reveal thatcould be your next-door neighbor or your dad! My favorite recently, though, is a woman going through a nasty divorce who is regaling us with tale after tale of her sexual exploits with other men to spite him. I do also enjoy the letters we get from prisoners.

SC: Do you remember the first movie nude scene you ever saw?

CC: Yes, I watched a Brazilian movie called Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands [starring the gorgeous Sonia colby skinterview 3Braga -SC] on cable when I was too young to be doing so. So, the first nude scene I remember is a threesome with a woman and two men, one of whom is dead.

SC: What's your favorite skin scene in a mainstream movie?

CC: No contestthe naked sauna fight in
Eastern Promises. Thanks, Cronenberg!

SC: What's your take on the bush/no bush debate? Leave it natural or shave it off?

CC: I think variation is good. Either look loses a bit of allure when it’s ubiquitous. It’s more fun to be surprised.

SC: Who, in your most pie-in-the-sky dreams, would you like to see pose nude in Penthouse?

CC:Christina Hendricks, fighting in a sauna with Viggo Mortensen.

Hey, we'd like to see that, too! Stay abreast of what's new in Christine Colby's world by following Penthouse Magazine on Twitter, checking out their website, or picking up a copy of Penthouse magazine (yes, you can still do that) at a newsstand near you!
