Biography

The French sometimes have a different take on nudity and sharing one’s deliciously private parts on screen. Take for example Catherine Wagener, who blazed a trail of explicitness in films that primarily took place in the early ‘70s in her native France. Even the titles are seductive and suggestive, as Mr. Skin is about to share with you... In her first movie, she played Sylvie in Risky Business (1967), a naughty schoolgirl in the French drama. Her next? The Sextrovert (1970), in the role of Brigitte (a French name that will forever by synonymous with sex thanks to Ms. Bardot). She followed it with Don’t Deliver Us From Evil (1971), where the blue-eyed, blonde-haired ingenue took on the role of Lore, who takes a vow with her friend to serve sin and Satan; this involves all three Bs and lots of white-panty shots. Next up was I Am Frigid… Why? (1972), the oddly named follow-up to I Am a Nyphomaniac (1971) (aka Libido: The Urge to Love), with Catherine playing Léa. She extended her acting CV by popping up in in two TV movies, as Maria in Les glaces (1973) and Sophie in Julie Charles (1974), before embarking on two more sexy cinematic adventures, as Kitou in Cat Dance of Sex (1974) and Béatrice in Mais où sont passées les jeunes filles en fleurs?(1975), translated as Where Have the Girls with Flowers Gone? and featuring naked cartoon boobies on the poster. She played Marie Anne de Sain Pons in the TV movie Mozart, and had one last credit in La grande culbute (1976), aka Superexcitation. Sadly, Catherine passed away in May 2011, exactly one month shy of her 59th birthday.
