Burn Country (2016) examines the experience of a Afghan interpreter who receives asylum in America but finds the country to be almost as hostile to him as his previous home. Osman (Dominic Rains) has just arrived in Northern California to stay with Gloria (Melissa Leo), the mother of an American journalist whom Osman befriended during the former's time in the latter's country. Osman takes a job writing up the police blotter for the local newspaper where he befriends a local roustabout named Lindsay (James Franco). When Lindsay goes missing, Osman is initially concerned that the police don't seem to be in any hurry to find him, but after a run in with a local crime boss (Thomas Jay Ryan), Osman begins to understand that the concepts of law and order aren't as black and white as they first seemed to an outsider. As Osman begins his own investigation into Lindsay's disappearance, he meets and begins a romance with Sandra (Rachel Brosnahan) a single mother who is in an open relationship, another issue that may indeed doom Osman to a fate he hoped to avoid by leaving Afghanistan in the first place. Will Osman discover that some mysteries are better left unsolved soon enough to save his own hide, or will this be another hard learned lesson for the idealistic young man? While we'd love to tell you there's a nude scene from the always amazing Rachel Brosnahan in this flick, it's sadly not the case. There is a sexy scene where she goes swimming in a white bra and turquoise undies, but that's about as hot as the action gets in this flick!
