Review

Blood Feast (1963) is the seminal gore flick by the master of the genre Herschell Gordon Lewis. The plot, like there even needs to be one, is about an Egyptian caterer who kills women in suburban Miami and uses their body parts to bring to life a dormant Egyptian goddess. Really, this is just an excuse to chop up bodies and fill the screen with blood and guts. Those who complain about holes in the story line or poor acting just don’t get it. That’s like being outraged by the fact that naked women have vaginas. It defeats the purpose. There was no nudity in the theatrical release as the producer and Lewis worried it would bar them from the drive-in movie chains that were their bread and butter. But what about our cheesecake? For that we give you Connie Mason in a bikini and Sandra Sinclair. They’re both a feast for the eyes.
