A forefather to the slasher films of the ‘70s and ‘80s, Blood and Lace is the terrifically terrifying cult classic that will give you late night nightmares, and early morning wood. Life is tough for teenaged Ellie Masters (Melody Patterson), and it’s only made tougher when her prostitute mother is bludgeoned to death by a hammer-wielding psychopath. She’s shipped off to a spooktacularly ominous orphanage run by the sadistic Mrs. Deere (Gloria Grahame) and her handy henchman. Now the mallet mashing maniac may well be hot on her trail, but the wacky warden of the orphanage may be even worse. Featuring some genuinely bonkers plot twists, Blood and Lace definitely delivers on the promise of its title. Terri Messina appears as Bunch, a spunky fellow orphan/prisoner. She also strips down to a teeny bikini, and later shows off her sexy back and lacey old-school panties. Getting the ball rolling on the grindhouse movement of the ‘70s, Blood and Lace is the greasy cheeseburger of movies, giving you everything you want, and nothing that you need. A little sleaze is welcomed, but a lot of sleaze is embraced.
