Did you ever wonder why America had a fascination with truckers and truck movies in the 70’s? It’s weird, since you and I both know that truck drivers as a breed of people are scary as hell. I wouldn’t leave my kid with a trucker and I doubt their mother would either. Hang on, I’ll just call Jennifer Aniston and ask her… no, she confirms, she wouldn’t let our kid stay with truckers. Yet, somehow the ‘keep on truckin’ attitude was prevalent around this time and it seemed that everyone had secret fantasies about running moonshine, jumping rivers, talking on CBs and moving the big rigs cross country. And out of that came BJ and the Bear – the story of a trucker (Greg Evigan), his monkey (The Bear) and the seven gorgeous female truckers that combine to ensure that he always gets away from Sheriff Lobo (Claude Akins). No, seriously. You don’t remember this show? It ran for three (long) seasons and even scored a spin-off with The Mis-Adventures of Sheriff Lobo! Come on, you must remember! The Monkey? The Truck? Okay, do you remember Judy “Stacks” Landers? Conchata “The Fox” Ferrell? Candi and Randi Brough? Ah, now you remember. Figured as much…
