As We Were Dreaming (2015)

Als wir traumten (2015), or As We Were Dreaming, is a German drama about three teenage boys living in East Germany in the 1990s who eat, drink, breathe, and sleep techno music. As they make their way through a society figuring out how to exist in the 20th Century once again, the boys dream of opening their own techno club where they can appoint themselves the tastemakers for the city and its people. The book that the film is based on focuses on life both before and after the destruction of the Berlin wall, but the film focuses solely on the aftermath and a country trying to find itself once more. In one of the film's best scenes, the boys head to a strip club where Ruby O. Fee is dancing! As the boys look on, she unhooks her bra and shows them what is likely the first pair of breasts they've ever laid eyes on! Ah, to be young again!
