Alice’s Restaurant (1969) is a song by Arlo Guthrie, supposedly autobiographical, but still unique in that it stands with only a handful of other movies that were adapted from a pop hit. Maybe more movies should seek out the radio for their inspiration? We thought Iron Man might have been born from the Black Sabbath song, but it wasn’t. It would have been better movie if it had, though. But this is a hippie story of Woody Guthrie’s son’s adventures of getting out of the Vietnam War draft. And being a hippie movie, you know that there was free loving, or at least free nudity, in this case from Shelley Plimpton, mother of Martha Plimpton, playing a groupie. Tina Chen also flashed some boobies briefly.
