A Polish peeping tom gets his tragic comeuppance in A Short Film About Love (1988), an installment in Krzystof Kieslowski‘s critically acclaimed Decalogue series. Olaf Lubaszanko stars as Tomik, a painfully shy teenager who grows obsessed with the vivacious and much-older woman (Grazyna Szapolowska) who lives across the way. What begins as harmless peeping quickly morphs into something more serious, as Tomik inches closer and closer to his beloved prey. When Magda (Szapolowska) spurns the boy’s advances, his overreaction leads to tragic consequences. Before you pull out your hankie, however, you can feel free to revel in Szapolowska’s lithe frame. The Polish actress serves up her treasures for a lucky boyfriend while a jealous Tomik watches longingly.
