A Little Trip to Heaven (2005)

Julia Stiles and her feminine wiles will always beguile us to high-tittied heaven, so the arty flick A Little Trip to Heaven (2005) really tickles our wick with its story of an insurance dick (Oscar-getter Forest Whitaker) sent by the Quality Life company to probe our fave-rave chick. As Isold, Julia plays the fishy sis of a car-crash victim whose death is mighty suspish, and it just so happens that she's the sole benefish of his million-dollar coffers. Living in a cabin with her son, Thor, and a dead-end boor named Fred (Jeremy Renner), Jules may or may not be what she seems. Is she the culprit? Is her husband behind it? No character is above playing games in this moody, broody, too-light-on-patooty Icelandic/American effort. Even Whitaker's would-be hero is a creepy peeper, though he finally manages to crack the fiscal mystery at the dark heart of this stylized tale.
