A Girl Called Rosemarie (1996)

An impoverished German beauty rises from her position as an ex-convict to become a high-society courtesan in Das Mädchen Rosemarie (1996), a glittering remake of the acclaimed 1958 drama of the same name. Based on true events, the film follows beautiful Rosemarie (Nina Hoss) as she learns how to use her curvaceous body to get exactly what she wants. Hopping between wealthy suitors, Rosemarie eventually lands with the devilish Fribert (Mathieu Carrière), who embroils her in a blackmail scheme that culminates in murder. Nina Hoss is wholly convincing in her role as the ribald mistress that men can’t say no to--the beguiling babe stops to flash her assets on every step up the social ladder.
