Imagine the pitch meeting for the Detroit-set musical drama 8 Mile (2002). “It’s a combination of Rocky (1976) and A Star Is Born (1937) showcasing the number one white rapper in the United States as he wins an all-Black hip hop championship! We’ll get Curtis Hanson of L.A. Confidential (1997) fame to direct it and hire a lineup of A-list performers to support Eminem in the starring role. Hell, we’ll even get him to write an original song for the semi-biographic flick that will win an Academy Award!” Unbelievably, all of this came to fruition when the R rated pic scored big at the box office and picked up an Oscar for the chart-topping single “Lose Yourself” (2002) — making it the first hip hop song to win the gold. If that’s not impressive enough, the movie includes a titillating turn from Brittany Murphy who flashes her bra-clad rack while her character Alex macks with Jimmy/B-Rabbit (Eminem). Not to be outdone, Jimmy’s mom Stephanie (Kim Basinger) bares her back and her body double’s butt while getting busy with Greg Buehl (Michael Shannon) in the trailer. Don’t come a knockin’ if the mobile home is a rockin’! Thanks to the DVD, we also get to see Gina Lynn’s nudity! The busty blonde whips off her brassiere to show off her plastic fantastics in the “Superman” (2002) special feature music video. So, put on your gold chain and grab hold of your mic as you start your engine for this Motor City package’s sexpots!
