I've noticed an interesting trend in TV shows over the last three decades: having a main character briefly experience a queer relationship. I think it's cool to see a female character lock lips with a lady on TV, even if she's just experimenting. Whether the show is trying to boost ratings or truly develop the character further, these are times when a TV character went lesbian for a storyline.

Selena Gomez in Only Murders in the Building

Selena Gomez is sexually fluid in real life, having said that she has wanted to play gay characters and has had crushes on women. Whether or not she's just teasing us is up for debate, but she sure felt realistic when her character got together with Cara Delevingne in a season of Only Murders in the Building. The relationship did not work out because Cara was an artist who may have just been using Selena's traumatic past for her art. How dare you play with the gorgeous Selena Gomez like that! Although...I'd love to play with Cara and Selena any day.

Lauren Collins in Degrassi

This storyline may have been a sexual awakening for a lot of Millennial teens. Lauren Collins played Paige Michelchuk on Degrassi - the same Degrassi that brought the world Drake - and she was a force to be reckoned with on the series. She was the bitchy popular girl with a surprising heart of gold that showed up every now and then.

One of those times was when she got closer to the bad girl from the wrong side of the tracks, played by Deanna Casaluce. One night, the girls have a sleepover and one thing leads to another. They make out! Paige tries to fight her feelings, but she eventually gives in. The relationship didn't last super long, but it was long enough for fans to fantasize about Degrassi's hottest lesbian couple.

Juno Temple in Ted Lasso

Juno Temple was the hilarious and sexy Keeley Jones in Ted Lasso where she was the object of two men's desires. They fought over her for seasons, but in the final season of Ted Lasso she fell for a wealthy lesbian woman played by Jodi Balfour who took Juno's character on lavish dates. The rich woman became embarrassed over some of Juno's mishaps so she broke up with her.

Kim Cattrall in Sex and the City

Perhaps one of the best to do it, Kim Cattrall had a legendary lesbian relationship on Sex and the City. Sure, some of it was played for laughs and not all of those laughs hold up decades later. But what does hold up is Kim hilariously announcing that she's now a lesbian while having brunch with the girls.

Who was the lucky lady to woo sex-positive Samantha? A Latina artist. Of course! No one can resist an artsy, fiery Latina giving serious Frida Kahlo vibes. She was played by Sonia Braga. Kim fell to her whims and experienced a several-episode sapphic sexcapade with her new girl pearl. But we all know Samantha. She can't be held down by a man or a woman. The pair never went nude together, but we saw them each go nude separately!

Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City

This one is a tiny bit of a stretch, but it's worth mentioning that Carrie Bradshaw had a brief struggle with sexuality in one episode of the show. Not, not her sexuality - her boyfriend's. In this episode, Carrie dates a bisexual man and she really struggles to be cool with it. When she goes to a birthday party thrown by her boyfriend's ex-boyfriend, she meets a lesbian played by Alanis Morissette.

They play spin-the-bottle (a little ridiculous to insinuate adult bisexuals are just seventh graders, but it's a fantasy!) and Alanis lands on Carrie. She seductively crawls across the floor and plants her big lips on a stunned and smoking Carrie (literally, she is smoking a cigarette). Carrie barely reacts. She doesn't seem entirely comfortable which is a bummer. Get into it! Instead, she gets up to get more cigs. And just like, she ends her sapphic exploration.
