Review

Will and Grace is one of these contrived sitcom premises that probably doesn’t exist in the real world. The titular characters are best friends, with Will (Eric McCormack) being a gay lawyer and Grace (Debra Messing) a straight interior designer. The opening scenario is that Grace is engaged to an asshole (ain’t they always?), but when she breaks it off, she ends up moving in with Will. While this is supposed to be a temporary situation, Grace and Will naturally end up being permanent roommates. The cast also consists of Jack (Sean Hayes), Will's flamboyant gay friend, and Karen (Megan Mullally), Grace’s assistant who works for the joy of it even though she doesn't really need to since she married and divorced money several times. Yeah, right! If she were riding that big of a gravy train, the last thing she’d be doing is working as somebody’s secretary unless it was a rich guy who she could later fuck, marry, and divorce--precisely in that order. While opinions on the show seem to be split right down the middle of the crap:genius spectrum, Will and Grace has garnered enough of a fan base to stay on the air and nab a syndication deal. While Debra Messing’s always been easy on the eyes, she’d be a little easier if she’d stop wearing so damn many clothes--although she did get briefly starkers in Jesus. Same thing goes for SNL alumna Molly Shannon. Though not the traditional looker, Shannon’s definitely got a set of cannons!
