Walking with Beasts

No Nudity

Review

Using big-money CGI technology, this BBC and Discovery Channel joint production bridged the era of the fall of dinosaurs and the rise of man. Walking with Prehistoric Beasts examines the Cenozoic eras, when mammals began to dominate the planet after the massive extinction of the Cretaceous period that killed sixty-five percent of life on Earth and turned the dinosaurs into future fuel for your gas-guzzling SUV. Hosted by Kenneth Branagh (a.k.a. “The guy who made Shakespeare hip again”), with voice-over narration on the U.S. version by Stockard Channing (who played the oldest living high school student at thirty-five in Grease). Walking with Beasts won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, and the six-part miniseries is generally regarded as an excellent documentary nearly on-par with it’s 1999 predecessor Walking with Dinosaurs. Speaking of walking with beasts, Stockard Channing got nearly naked in The Fortune and Sweet Revenge, though most people probably wish she hadn’t.
