The name Victoria Bowman might not ring a bell (yet), but you've heard of the Rabbit Vibe, right? Or the Pocket Rocket? Ok, maybe this is the wrong crowd for those. Perhaps you're more familiar with the Palm Pal? Or maybe the Super Sucker 2.0?

Yes, Victoria is the Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Doc Johnson, the world's largest designer and manufacturer of sex toys, and she loves her job. Like, really loves it:

SKIN CENTRAL: So, tell us who you are and what you do.

VICTORIA BOWMAN: I'm Victoria Bowman-Steinour, and I'm the Director of Marketing & Public Relations at Doc Johnson. I run the marketing department and handle everything from general marketing strategy to copywriting, print materials, text for packaging (often even naming new products), social media, overseeing the website, and honestly whatever else is needed. I am never ever bored. Frankly, I often groan on Friday afternoons, thinking of all the things I haven't been able to get to in the week. I really love my job.

Aside from my work self, I'm also a mom, a wife, and a person who likes to take photos, and write things about my life online sometimes.

SC: What makes Doc Johnson different from other adult novelty companies?

VB: Above all else is that we're a true manufacturer. We've been a founder in this industry since 1976 and we make 75% of our products in North Hollywood, California. We have a building for sculpting, designing, and making molds (we were the first company to ever mold an adult performer 30 years ago and we continue to sign the biggest and best stars), another building just housing our laboratory and chemist, a building just for pouring silicone toys, a huge building that houses our wondrous production teams that make our rubber goods and a finishing area for hand-detailing our realistic products. Those veins and pink heads on cocks? Hand-painted! The hair on that plush pussy? Each woven in by hand!

We’re the world’s largest designer and manufacturer of novelties and sex toys. Our current catalog spans more than 3,500 products and includes items for men, women and couples. Among Doc Johnson’s best-known and best-selling products are the award winning line of Lucid Dreams vibrators, the legendary Rabbit [of Sex and the City fame -SC], and the Pocket Rocket, the most discreet and talked-about vibrator ever made.

SC: Any favorite sex-toy scenes in movies?

VB: Hmm... well, I remember the first few I saw and I remember being a bit confused and laughing nervously, because I was a kid and just knew what was happening on-screen was supposed to be funny. Definitely Barbarella's Excessive Machine which, at the time, just struck me as weird and overly drawn out, then the Orgasmatron in Sleeper, of course - because what kid born in the 70's escaped childhood without seeing Woody Allen movies? No one.

Scenes I like? Natasha Lyonne in The Slums of Beverly Hills - super cute scene, especially those adorable bowman 4panties around her ankles and the way she brings the vibrator up to her chest with both hands after coming. It was just the right amount of campy yet sincere. Instead of feeling embarrassed for watching, I just plain liked it.

SC:Do you remember the first nude scene you ever saw?

VB: Oh man... yes! It was Daryl Hannah in Splash! And I was a mere 7 years old. I am 100% sure that my parents had no idea there would be nudity when we went to see the movie. I was just a totally mesmerized kid who adored that movie, wanted to be a mermaid, and believed that was Daryl Hannah's real hair. I don’t remember thinking her nudity was strange or sexual at all it just added to the story for me. I do remember everyone laughing at the Statue of Liberty guard yelling “bocce balls!!!”.

bowman 5SC: Who would be your dream Doc Johnson spokeswoman?

VB: This is a really tough question. I love that the people who actually work for Doc Johnson are the ones representing the company, as well as all of the many stars we’ve partnered with over the last 3 decades. But if I had to choose... I'd break the rules of this question and create a super-team of spokespeople:

Dolly Parton, because she’s just the most endearing and resourceful woman ever and I could listen to her talk about the functions of a sex toy all damn day.

Bill Hader playing Vincent Price (on SNL), because come on, who couldn't listen to a mildly irritable Vincent Price extol the virtues of a fleshy rubber pussy?

Megan Mullally, because she would be the die-hard rep giving out tips even I’ve never heard of and she’ll describe them in glorious shrill detail.

Louis C.K., because I’m sure his “For fuck’s sake, just buy these things. Buuuuy them. You people don’t understand how this works? It makes you come. Jesus.” approach would probably work, sometimes, right?

Aziz Ansari would make an infectious “hype man” and rally the crowd. I’d want him in every meeting with me, purely for his commentary.

And last, Annie Potts as Iona from Pretty in Pink has any character been more captivating and more sex-positive while being funny, self-deprecating, and wise? I just adored her and can imagine her breaking it down for customers and fans.

I could probably keep going on like this, but all fantasy jokes aside, we’re better off with people who are invested in more than a paycheck and who are so hands-on at work that they can provide meaningful feedback and advice to customers, and will listen to ideas and concerns and take those back to the table at the next meeting. Sorry, Dolly, I wouldn’t trade my team for you.
