Experiencing a little crisis of confidence? Coming down with a bit of malaise? That's because it's 1979, war is raging in Afghanistan, jerks have taken over Iran, and gas is really, really expensive. What you need is a trip to Van Nuys Blvd. (1979), where the kids cruise all night, American Graffiti-style, and the chicks are flirty, curvy, and wild! That's what tinytown yokel Bill Adler decides to do after hearing about the crazy goings-on out west; he aims his souped-up ’70s van straight for Los Angeles, where he quickly gets wood for drag racer Cynthia Wood (the perky Playmate who played—what else?—a perky Playmate in Apocalypse Now [1979]). While Bill gets close to greaser David Hayward, takes in some topless dancing, and meets a sex-crazed carhop who just happens to also be B-movie cutie Tara Strohmeier, he also learns a valuable lesson about . . . absolutely nothing! Whoo!
