165 Eaton Place between the years of 1903 and 1930 was the setting for this very influential and still highly regarded British drama series. The ‘upstairs’ represents a family of British aristocracy; the ‘downstairs’ is where the various servants live. Each social class gets their due, and all the characters are drawn skillfully and respectfully, while various historical events are intertwined among the familial dramas. The jumping off point for what seems an entire generation of English actors, Upstairs, Downstairs is as funny and insightful today as it was back in the early seventies.
