madonna dvd 4.3.12 2Who is this person Madonna? Why has she dropped off the face of pop culture? As presented in Madonna: Truth or Dare (1991), a deep-delving documentary that snakes behind the scenes and into the secret life of an obscure female entertainer as she makes her bid for stardom, this person Madonna is a sexually compelling, facially pretty young American woman of Italian extraction who seems to have the talent and drive necessary to become at least a minor celebrity. The irony here is that despite the wealth of unguarded moments--sharing confidences with friends, cooing affectionately with lovers, and exuding a commanding presence among coworkers and underlings--this person Madonna to this very day remains a mystery to we the people of the vast paying public. Fast-forward to the 44-minute mark for some backstage booby play as subsequently unknown pop warbler Madonna releases her attention-hungry chest puppies from their obscure bustier.

A movie that plays out like a political thriller, a fever-pitched story of doomed romance gone inevitably dunaway dvd 4.3.12awry, a gritty private-eye noir, and a harrowing indictment of one rich man’s absolute power and absolute corruption, Chinatown (1974) is a complex and subtle weave of characters, motives, circumstances, and conflicts. A plot summary seems simple enough: A two-bit Shamus is tricked into exposing the vulnerability of a moral man who stands in the way of an immoral opportunist, unraveling a scheme to bilk the taxpaying populace of Los Angeles out of many millions of dollars during the expansion of that nascent city into a sprawling megalopolis. Also, a wealthy bastard has used his beautiful daughter as a breeding mare. This description is like saying the Mona Lisa is a painting of a smiling woman. Chinatown is a challenging and absorbing entertainment. Its rewards and insights are as deep and stunning as those to be gleaned from the very best literature. Fast forward to the 1 hour, 26-minute mark, where silken-skinned Faye Dunaway bares fleeting glimpses of her butter-soft breast balls.
