It is a tragedy of immense proportions that beautiful blonde bombshell Sharon Tate is remembered for anything other than her tremendous, big-hearted, sensual appeal. Tate was one of the most pleasing actresses ever to commit her image to film. Her personality was as big and full as her brassiere. She possessed the intelligence of a natural comedienne and the physique of a swimsuit model. Her face was hospitable, winning, eager that you be pleased, and entirely suitable for the cover of Vogue magazine. After a brief stint on The Beverly Hillbillies, Sharon enjoyed a few roles on film. Her credits are unconscionably brief, and every film she appeared in has moments to cherish. In 13 Chairs (1969), those moments are naked. Director and future Tate husband Roman Polanski initially thought Sharon was not right for the lead part in Fearless Vampire Killers (1967). He changed his mind after seeing her in costume. Alas, Sharon will forever be most horribly remembered for falling prey to the "Helter Skelter" antics of the murder-crazed Manson family, who slaughtered her while she was nine months pregnant, along with a house full of party-goers, in the infamous slayings of August 1969. But as her film work endured, it gave life to the early-'80s non-hit by the Jim Carroll Band, "It's Too Late if You're in Love with Sharon Tate." Of course, Quentin Tarantino's revisionist tinseltown history, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) reclaimed Sharon's legacy, giving her the happy ending she always deserved, especially considering how many happy endings she's given us!
