Biography

Cincinnati native Marin Kanter had a short, but memorable career in the movie business. Born in the great state of Ohio to a father who was a banker and a mother who was a singer/songwriter, she took to acting early, but retired after only racking up five titles on her entertainment resume. But, oh, how impressive those were! Marin managed to work with some of the greats, even if they weren’t all the way great when she knew them. As a pixie-haired brunette, she made her film debut in The Loveless (1981), playing the character Telena. Co-written and co-directed by the now two-time Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow, Marin’s co-star was a young Willem Dafoe in his first credited movie role. The starlet was naked in the flick, hanging out with Dafoe, and showed off her assets when she got startled out of bed. For her second credit, she played Janet Feldman in the TV movie Skokie (1981), the daughter of the legendary Danny Kaye. Nominated for three primetime Emmy awards, Carl Reiner, Eli Wallach, and Lee Strasberg were counted amongst the many famous cast members. The movie Endangered Species (1982) had her in the role of Robert Urich’s daughter, and joined by JoBeth Williams. As Tracy Burns in Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains (1982), she was Diane Lane’s sister, and the two were in a girl-punk band. The movie was written by Nancy Dowd, who had already won an Oscar for Coming Home (1978), and had written Slap Shot (1977). Besides being able to see Diane Lane with a Mohawk, you can also see Marin in several sexy wardrobe options. You’ll also get to see Laura Dern, and Chrisitne Lahti, and Brent Spiner (Data!) in an uncredited role. For her last project, she went with the role of “Tiny Nun” in Too Much Sun (1990), written in part and directed by Robert Downey Sr., and starring his son Robert Downey Jr., plus Ralph Macchio. Mr. Skin knows—you’re most excited about Ralph, aren’t you?
