If Annie Potts looks familiar, it’s because she’s wacky secretary Janine from the first two Ghostbusters movies (1984-2021). And if her voice rings a bell, it’s due to playing an animated Bo Peep in the Toy Story franchise, even returning for the long-overdue Toy Story 4 (2019). But before Ms. Potts was picking up all those royalty checks, the kickin’ chick from Kentucky kicked off her career with Corvette Summer (1978), which featured a brief but mam-orable glimpse of her dashboard ornaments and tail end! No wonder the poky-showing role nabbed her a Golden Globe nomination. The ambitious ingenue also lent her pretty and witty style to the small screen with Lifetime dramas and network sitcoms such as ABC’s short-lived series Goodtime Girls (1980) and the CBS hit Designing Women (1986-1993) which showcased Annie’s homegrown good looks and, ahem, southern charms. After appearing in the teen flick Pretty in Pink (1986), the appealing actress donned sexy skivvies for the mystery comedy Who’s Harry Crumb (1989) and the drama Texasville (1990). While playing a waitress in Breaking the Rules (1992), the delightful dish served up a heaping helping of her pokies thanks to a flimsy T-shirt. The busy babe bounced back to the boob-tube to star in the CBS sitcom Love & War (1993-1995), which scored her a Primetime Emmy nomination. Plucky parts on Dangerous Minds (1996-1997), Hercules (1998), Any Day Now (1998-2002), GCB (2012), Royal Pains (2013-2018), Chicago Med (2015-2016), and the Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon (2017-present) followed, as did our growing affection for sassy Annie Sex-Potts!
