Gone Too Soon: Mamorial Day Top 10
In typical Hollywood style, producers are now hoping to cash in on the craze for supernatural story lines (a category that now includes fairy tales, Greek myths, campfire legends, Balinese shadow puppets, email chain letters, and characters from the back of cereal boxes) with not one, but two, takes on the Snow White myth.
For Skin Central's money, it'd be hard to top Edwige Fenech's full-frontal, fairy tale-themed Sapphic photo shoot in La Pretora (1976), but let's rub down the challengers anyway.
The first, Snow White and the Huntsman, reinvents the fairy tale as a fantasy action flick with a hint of nu-metal flavor (think Game of Thrones meets an Evanescence video), with Charlize Theron as the evil queen and Kristen Stewart as Snow White in knight drag.
The second, Mirror Mirror, goes for a frothier, more farcical approach, with Julia Roberts playing the quippy evil queen to Lily Collins' heroic Snow White.
But which fair princess takes the cake (or the apple) in the nudity department? Find out after the jump!
Though he is considerably less bald and golden, Mr. Skin has at least one thing in common with Mr. Oscar: an abiding love of onscreen ladies of the night. Common sense in Tinseltown states that if an actress wants the gods of the Academy to smile upon her, she should play a stripper, a hooker, or a nun. We here at Skin Central are biased towards the strippers and the hookers (though nuns aren’t always so bad), so we're turning on the red light for this skinspiratonal sampling of actresses who’ve gone from walking the streets to walking the red carpet.
Perhaps the most famous cinema call girl is Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (1990). Julia charmed the Academy into a Best Actress nom after charming Richard Gere out of his pants as the ultimate hooker with a heart of gold. Body double Shelly Michelle serves most of the skin in this flick, but in one scene Jules lets a definite nip slip while rolling in the sack.
Elisabeth Shue also works hard for her money- hard enough to win an Oscar for her performance as a streetwalker in Leaving Las Vegas (1996). The scene where she pours Nicholas Cage a tequila body shot in the desert sun still has Mr. Skin all hot and bothered.
Way back in her Hanoi Jane days, Jane Fonda got liberated as a happy hooker in Klute (1971)- and got a little gold man for her trouble. Most of Jane’s nudity in the film is woefully under-lit, but her nice perky lil’ right nip pops up in this well-lit scene.
More recently, Marisa Tomei took off her top to pay the bills in The Wrestler (2008). Mr. Skin thought that Marissa’s hooters were rays of sunshine in the otherwise relentlessly downbeat film, and the Academy must have agreed, since they rewarded her with an Oscar nom.
Grab a handful of sweaty bills, because we've barely stroked the tip of the nude iceberg of skinema sex work, and Mr. Skin is gonna make it rain!
Stay tuned for more Academy-Award winning nudity all this week on the Mr. Skin blog!
moreThis year’s list of Golden Globes nominees features yet another bumper crop of babes who have shown great skin throughout their careers.
While they're not always nominated for their nude scenes, past nominees like Anne Hathaway, Angelina Jolie, and Kate Winslet have also been provided some truly award-winning nudity.
As awards season opens, it's time to see which Best Actress nominees have also bared their bodies and where you can see their best nude scenes.

Good nudity in a romantic comedy is a very rare thing. Once in a while you'll get a slip of nip like in Pretty Woman or The Wedding Date, but really outstanding celebrity nudes scenes like the ones in The Break-Up and Something's Gotta Give don't come along very often. But rumor has it that romantic-comedy queen Sandra Bullock may be adding a dash of full frontal to that very short list soon.
The Proposal, which finds Bullock as an about-to-be-deported Canadian businesswoman who tricks her underling (Scarlett Johansson's husbo Ryan Reynolds) into marrying her, will hit theaters on June 19th. But will your jaw hit the floor with a bit of boobs of bush from Sandra?
Bullock recently told Entertainment Weekly of her character:
[Screenwriter] Peter [Chiarelli] wrote me like a guy, and he never stopped writing me like a guy.
To which the mag countered:
Except, perhaps, in the nude scene. The crucial moment transpires when Bullock's character steps out of the shower, searches for her towel, and stumbles into an equally unclad Reynolds. It was the only sequence that choreographer-turned-director [Anne] Fletcher insisted they rehearse. "I really wanted them to be naked," says Fletcher, "and they never batted an eyelash." Jokes Bullock, "I wanted to do full-frontal nudity before I turned 60, so, check."
To date we've seen Sandra Bullock nude in two films: a bit of ass in Who Shot Patakango?, and a bit of dark, shadowy breasts in Fire on the Amazon. Both were little seen and came before Sandra appeared in the mega hit Speed. Since finding fame Sandra's only delivered a little bikini and lingerie action, so the likelihood of a full-frontal scene making it to the final cut of The Proposal is slim.
After the cut, we make an argument for why we think that Sandra's sacks and snatch might just make it to a summer movie screen near you.

Emma Roberts may be just 18 years old, but she's already got one sex scene under her belt. Sadly the scene in question, opposite Rory Culkin (Macauley's little bro) in Lymelife, is completely non-nude, and though Mr Skin has been holding out hope that Emma was just getting her feet wet and would disrobe in the near future, the prospects don't look too promising. In fact, Roberts found the whole experience so embarrassing that she may never do a sex scene again! She told WENN:
It was kind of awkward and embarrassing. It was kind of an honest first time kind of scene, I guess. I think seeing it onscreen is more awkward actually.
I saw it when I was with one of my really good friends, one of my best friends who I've known since I was in kindergarten and she couldn't even watch. She was burying her face in my shoulder.
When we shot it I was thinking, 'This is really embarrassing. I don't know if I can do this. I don't know if I'm ever going to do this again.' But then, when you're actually on the set, you just want to do it in one take and you just want to get it over with. So you just go out there and do it. I think that anticipation is almost worse than the actual scene itself.
Emma's famous aunt, Julia Roberts, has a similar disdain for sex on screen. Though she let slip a blurry peek of teat in Pretty Woman, Julia has been notoriously skingy in her career and has also decried fake film fuckery. But we were hoping that Emma would take her nudity cues from dear old dad, Eric Roberts. One of Eric's first roles was portraying the jealous boyfriend/killer of legendary Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratten in the Mr Skin Hall of Fame movie Star 80. Dear Emma, when it comes to peeling for the screen, father knows best.
