Review

One of Marilyn Monroe’s movies that pushed her even further into the spotlight was actually more of an Ethel Merman movie, called There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954). It’s about a vaudeville family that grows and then falls apart. One member leaves to become a priest, and another falls in love with Marilyn, but fears that she doesn’t reciprocate the feelings. Mostly this movie was a way of releasing a lot of songs from songwriter Irving Berlin, with some hot star power behind them. Marilyn does quite a few dance numbers in some very stimulating attire—a sexy partially see through dress, and a black two piece bikini with an over the top flowery hat. She interacts a lot with the crowd, rubbing up against some guys and showing lots of leg and cleavage. Take a peek at when the business was a lot more innocent, and see just how far we’ve come since the 50s as far as sex appeal is concerned!
