The Wayans Bros.

No Nudity

Review

Following in the comedic footsteps of their big brothers Keenan Ivory and Damon, The Wayans Bros. was a sitcom starring Shawn and Marlon as two brothers (duh!) One calm and in control, the other off-the-hook crazy, the pair was always getting in and out of the usual sitcom predicaments. Although admittedly lowbrow, the show was well-liked in the average hood and enjoyed a healthy four year lifespan on the WB network (a huge achievement in and of itself, since the average longevity of a show on that channel is about three episodes). While generally not considered as funny as the once-brilliant sketch comedy show In Living Color that eldest sibling Keenan Ivory created, the younger Wayans brothers made a name for themselves and stepped out from under big brother’s shadow. They also cast a couple of fine young ladies who stepped out from under their burdensome clothing for the camera. Paula Jai Parker has tripped the clothing-optional scales in Woo and Sprung (and a good look at those lovely mocha minnebagos would be enough to get us sprung, if you know what we mean). But her sizzling co-star Lela Rochon has done her one--make that two--better by shakin’ that azz as a stripper in Gang Related and lounging about playfully in a Playtex in Waiting to Exhale (also referred to as “Waiting for Men to go to Hell” by many non-militant non-feminists).
