With Caligula (1979), Così fan tutte (1992) and Paprika (1991) under his belt, Italy’s softcore auteur Tinto Brass wowed fans below their belts when he wielded his magic again in the delightfully bawdy sex drama The Voyeur (1993). Not to be confused with similarly-titled pics from 1995, 2000, 2007 and 2021, this erotic flick is also known as L’uomo che guarda (The Man Who Looks) because the camera is never shy about panning up and down skintastic actresses, such as the flesh-flashing Fausta (Cristina Garavaglia). Loosely based on a novel by Alberto Moravia, the film follows the aptly-named Dodò (Francesco Casale) who is a cuckolded professor at a Rome university. When his wife (Katarina Vasilissa) walks out on the marriage, not even the amorous affections of a hot young co-ed can appease him. Even his father’s randy live-in nurse isn’t tempting enough to put the poor sap in a “here and now” state of mind. Luckily, the heads on audience members will have a different reaction to the abundance of skin on screen. In a fantasy scene, Dodò’s wife sloooowly and sensuously peels off her clothes to expose her perfectly pale rack, rump, and fluffy bush. She then steps aside and grabs a … mandolin. Wait, what?! Of course, the ebony eyeful Pascasie (Raffaella Offidani) steals the show when she shows off her three Bs while gobbling on a photog’s hog in an un-simulated scene! If that’s not arousing enough, Raff feels up and goes down on a dyke-namic donna. Molte grazie!
