Based on a novella by D.H. Lawrence, The Virgin and the Gypsy (1970) stars Joanna Shimkus and Harriet Harper as a pair of provincial pretties who head home from boarding school and make all the local boys drool. Joanna sees right through the stifling life her strict grandma Fay Compton makes her lead, and her blood gets pumping when she meets a hunky gypsy who awakens her sexual curiosity but good.
