The Seduction of a Nerd (1970)

One man’s weakness for women and the duplicitous depths of corporate espionage come together in the weird, wacky, and wonderful plot of Don Joslyn’s The Seduction of a Nerd (1970). Also known as Up Your Teddy Bear, the fantastical romantic comedy follows Clyde King (Wally Cox), a dork who makes toys out of wood and packs wood while stalking women. Clyde is ruled by an obsession to follow and fixate upon passing foxes. But unlike his handcrafted toys, these flesh-and-blood love objects seem to always remain just beyond the craftsman’s reach. Yet when the panting geek’s talents and vulnerabilities become known to a high-powered female executive (Julie Newmar) at a national novelty company, the bosomy boss employs all of the feminine wiles money can buy to bring the celibate savant under her wing. Difficulties ensue, and murdering the sap soon seems like a more rational resolution than getting him laid. Of course, that doesn’t mean the journey isn’t a satisfying ride. This is especially the case when it comes to the naked T&A flashed by Miss Honeysuckle (Angelique Pettyjohn) at the 34-minute mark. Suffice it to say, Mr. Skin would love to suckle her honeypot! If that’s erotic enough, the R rated flick also features Amy Thomson, Claire Kelly, Kathy Wakefield, Thordis Brandt, Valora Noland, Viki Ellison, and Ms. Newmar’s fit and fabulous figure! Indeed, the svelte stunner struts her stuff in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny black bikini. With a body like that, Julie could seduce anyone— nerd or not!
