The Ring (2002)

The spooky VHS tape at the heart of The Ring (2002) not only serves to hopelessly date this American re-make of a Japanese horror classic, it also speaks volumes about the different media formats. A torrent that dooms hapless video pirates to die within a week of downloading it just doesn't have the same...cinematic quality, you know? Anyway, Naomi Watts stars as the young journalist and single mother who takes it upon herself to investigate the aforementioned spooky tape and attempts to identify the even spookier long-haired girl who stars in it. 11 minutes and 58 seconds in, Naomi prances around her apartment in her bra and panties as she scrambles to get dressed for a funeral, and that's one thing we're glad was caught on film.
